The ILEX Legal Secretarial Level 2 qualification. A good general education and command of English. A competent user of Microsoft Office Word. Is there an interview?
Yes, an interview is required and you may have to complete an initial assessment to ensure your skills are suitable for the level of the course.
What can I progress to?

What is the course about?
Unit 1 - Advanced Legal Word Processing and Audio Transcription. Includes the production of a range of documents and forms and correspondence found in the Probate, Conveyancing, Litigation, Family and Corporate departments in legal offices. Learners will be expected to produce 'mailable' work from complex drafts. Development of speed, accuracy, proof-reading skills and attention to detail.Unit 2 - Business Skills in the Legal Environment Covers topics such as: diary management, making travel/hotel arrangements, client care, business letter writing, filing systems, organising meetings, preparing bills, statements, petty cash, etc. Presenting information in different formats, eg; business letter, formal reports, information sheets, presentations, etc.
What are the course outcomes?
To gain the full qualification and a high level of competence in a range of secretarial and administrative skills.Are there any additional requirements? Learners will be required to maintain good attendance and undertake additional private study (approximately 2 - 3 hours weekly).
How will you be assessed?
You will be assessed through a series of assignments which are internally marked by tutors and externally verified by City & Guilds. There is also an externally set and marked proof-reading test. Assignments are graded Pass, Merit or Distinction.Is there an examination fee? Yes (includes awarding body registration fee). |
