Student Services is a central unit providing advice, guidance and support to the students and tutors in a range of key functions including:
Courses
We are responsible for advising students on the range of available courses, and work with the Stanmore College Sixth Form to ensure students enrol on one which is appropriate to their needs and aspirations.
Counselling
Whether the problem is work related or personal, trained staff can offer a sympathetic and positive counselling service.
Careers
We offer a range of services at the appropriate times of year: careers education talks, workshops, careers videos, practice interviews, computer aided guidance and, throughout the year, informal discussions and structured careers interviews with staff from Student Services and the Lifetime Careers Service. A well stocked, up to date library is available containing information on a wide range of careers.
Higher Education
Students wishing to apply to University, are guided through the process by our staff using a range of methods including: group and individual sessions, videos and practice interviews. Specialist software, prospectuses and general reference books are available to assist students in choosing the right course.
Additional Support
Student Services provides learning and / or welfare support for students with additional needs. The College publishes, annually, a Disability Statement which explains the specialist equipment and professional assessments available.
