Wednesday, 21st June marked a celebration of the grit and determination shown by Access learners who completed their courses.
We all know that it is ultimately learners who have to put in the hard work to succeed in getting the best outcomes, and that much of the job of any educational provider is to equip students with the right tools and support to enable this.
As a celebration of thanks, a fun-filled awards ceremony was organised by Adwoa Nimo, Lecturer in Psychology and Beaulah Banfield, Course Leader for Science Access Courses. During the ceremony, learners thoroughly enjoyed the presentation of awards coupled with an evening feast!
Learners picked up awards for various categories including ‘Best Personality’ and ‘Best Dressed'.
Nadine Ellis, who studied Access to Nursing, Level 2 Maths, and GCSE English commented, ‘’the event was thoroughly organised and gave us an opportunity to celebrate our course achievements. I am delighted to be awarded an award for perseverance. No doubt, the courses have been intense, but nevertheless, teachers were supportive and made sure I was given the right resources to deliver. They stepped out of their line of duties to make sure I was supported’’. Nadine has been offered a place at Middlesex University where she will study a degree in Mental Health and Nursing.
Shaun Barnard was presented with an award for ‘Best Personality’ and commented,‘’it feels good to be recognised for non-academic achievements and the friendly support of teachers has helped me to reduce stress levels whilst studying.’’ Shaun studied Access to Psychology and is moving onto applying for work experience placements.
